At OnPoint Community Credit Union’s new Keizer branch, brochures are being put in place, supplies have been put away and desks and workstations for staff are being set up for its Monday opening.

The new branch, located at 5120 River Road N., will be the credit union’s first in mid-Willamette Valley. A second branch, located at 645 Ninth St. N.W. in west Salem, will open on Monday, June 22.

Tory McVay, OnPoint’s senior vice president and chief retail officer, said that during construction, crews working at the Keizer location have been asked by passersby when the new branch would open.

“We’re really excited about this community,” he said.

OnPoint has about 9,800 members in Marion County who continue to do business with the credit union without a physical branch, according to McVay. He said that some of these members started accounts while living in other parts of the state but kept them after moving to Marion County. Other members might commute to another city for work where they opened an account, he said.

The credit union’s nearest branches to Marion County are Wilsonville, McMinnville and Eugene. McVay said members based in Marion County have been asking for branches closer to where they live and the new locations will fill a gap for OnPoint. The credit union started looking for locations in 2018.

The new locations will bring the number of OnPoint’s full-service branches to 35, said McVay. Both branches will have eight dedicated staff and a mortgage loan officer, commercial loan officer and wealth management adviser will serve each, for now, he said.

Among OnPoint’s more unique features are notary and signature guarantee services, local decision-making on loans and a coin machine, he said.

Based in Portland and founded in 1932, OnPoint has 395,000 members and with assets of $6.5 billion.

The new Keizer branch will feature a two-car drive-up teller window and a drive-up ATM. The branch will be managed by Michael Savory, who has worked at OnPoint since 2008.

“We are thrilled to join the vibrant, historical and beautiful community of Keizer,” said Savory, in a prepared statement.

The new west Salem will be led by Branch Manager Jason Desilet, who has worked at OnPoint since 2009.

“We look forward to supporting our members, nonprofit partners and local businesses in this growing area when we open in June,” said Desilet, in a statement.
