Here are the Salem restaurants offering takeout or closing during Oregon’s restaurant shutdown

During Tuesday’s lunch hour, downtown Salem was a much quieter version of its usual self.

Some restaurants were open, hoping to draw customers with to-go coffee orders and takeout food. Others had signs on the doors announcing temporary closures. Some were simply locked and dark during regular business hours.

Gov. Kate Brown on Monday ordered all Oregon restaurants to stop offering dine-in to limit public gatherings and the spread of COVID-19. Many local restaurants are relying on takeout or delivery orders to stay afloat.

The Salem Chamber of Commerce has created a “Salem Eats” Facebook group for local restaurants to share menus and plans for takeout.

This list is based on in-person visits to local restaurants on March 17, or announcements on websites and Facebook pages. If we’re missing your Salem establishment, let us know by emailing [email protected].
