EVENTS: Where to celebrate New Year’s Eve

Ring in the “Noon” Year with little ones during a kid-friendly party at Gilbert House Children’s Museum. There will be crafts, photo ops and a balloon drop at 12 p.m. The event starts at 10 a.m. Admission costs $8. Children under 1 are free. 116 Marion St. N.E. Feel like dancing? The Yard Food Park is hosting a Latin dance New Year’s Eve party. There’s a dance lesson from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and bachata, salsa and cumbia dancing until 1 a.m. There will be a midnight champagne toast, party favors and Spanish sangria. $15 cover. 4106 State St. More info is on Facebook.

Say adios to el año viejo at Xicha Brewing Company during their Ecuadorian-style New Year’s Eve fiesta. Traditionally there is an effigy doll stuffed with notes from family and friends about what they’d like to say goodbye to from the last year. At the stroke of midnight everyone gathers to light the doll on fire. At the brewery, an “X” pinata will be used. The event starts at 9 p.m. 576 Patterson St. N.W. More info is on Facebook.

Laugh your way into the new year during Capitol City Theater’s “best of” improv comedy show. The event starts at 10 p.m. and will end with a dessert and appetizer buffet, plus a champagne toast. Join three drag queens as they host a New Year’s Eve drag show at Southside Speakeasy. There will be a dance party, champagne toast and midnight buffet.
