A train collided with a gray sedan Thursday morning in central Salem after an elderly driver turned the wrong direction on a one-way street, the Salem Police Department said.

Two passengers in the car had minor injuries and were taken to the emergency room, said Salem Police spokeswoman Debbie Aguilar.

The driver was northbound on 12th Street when he turned right onto Court Street, which is westbound only, Aguilar said. The entire front end of the gray sedan was smashed in.

Aguilar said it was unknown how many passengers were on the train and if there were any injuries.
