CHECK OUT: a triathlon, dog walk or wildfire talk

Hear all about wildfires as speakers Jeffrey D. Johnson, CEO Western Fire Chiefs Association and Tom Fields, a fire prevention coordinator for the Oregon Department of Forestry, discuss the changing nature of fires, the causes and consequences, fire prevention and protection of both public and private lands.

Take a leisurely with your pup to help raise money for a Willamette Valley Hospice program that helps keep hospice patients with their furry friends.

Walk n Wag takes place at Minto Brown Island Park from 9 a.m. to noon. The 1.5 mile course runs along the Willamette River and ends at a vendor village lined with more than 30 pet-friendly vendors.

All participants will be given a goodie bag, doggie bandana and a chance to win a door prize basket. More info can be found on the Willamette Valley Hospice website. Registration is $10 online and $15 at the event. 220 Minto Island Rd. S.W.

Like running? What about swimming or biking? You can try all three during the Rotary Multi-Sport Riverfest at Riverfront Park.
