Where to trick-or-treat in Salem ahead of Halloween
Good evening, Salem.
This Thursday, Oct. 24, a free class at Salem Fire Station 6 will teach participants how to perform life-saving basic trauma care to stop someone from bleeding out.
The class, called STOP THE BLEED, is part of a national campaign to teach bystanders how to stop uncontrolled bleeding after a traumatic injury, which can cause death before first responders have the chance to arrive.
Thursday’s class will be at 6 p.m. at the fire station, located at 2740 25th St. S.E. It will be hosted by Marion County’s Community Emergency Response Team. Training will be provided by Salem Health trauma nurses, according to an event flier.
There are still some spots available as of Monday afternoon, according to Joe Hutchinson, Salem’s emergency manager. To sign-up, email Lola Hackett at [email protected].
