Sybil’s raises donations for Marion Polk Food Share
Good evening, Salem.
Our team will be off tomorrow for the Thanksgiving holiday. Before we do, we wanted to share a little bit of local generosity with you.
On Tuesday, Sybil’s Omelettes Unlimited served free meals and collected hundreds in donations to help local families experiencing food insecurity.
The State Street restaurant invited guests to donate to the Marion Polk Food Share, raising $779 during the event and another $430 over the past few weeks. Sybil’s matched the donations, bringing the total to $2,418.
Guests were also asked to show appreciation to restaurant staff by tipping the original bill amount. The restaurant shared these photos of the event.
The restaurant’s annual “Pay-It-Forward-Day” honors its late founder Dr. Wolfram Gottschalk, who opened it in 1982.
His wife, Dorothee Gottschalk, started the tradition after his death in 2011.
“It’s a time for kindness, generosity, and family—values that were at the heart of everything he did,” she wrote in a statement.
