Good evening, Salem.

A wind advisory is in effect for Salem and much of the Willamette Valley starting at 8 p.m. tonight, lasting through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Wind will come from the south between 15 and 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.

The gusts will likely tumble unsecured objects, and tree limbs could break with resulting power outages, according to the agency.

The service recommends taking extra care while driving, and securing outdoor items like garbage cans.
