Good evening, Salem.

Another protest Friday drew hundreds to the Oregon Capitol, this time to oppose President Donald Trump's cuts to federal funding for scientific research.

Meantime, a smaller gathering at Bush's Pasture Park paid tribute to 16-year-old José Vázquez Valenzuela, who was shot and killed one year ago today. His family planted an Oregon white oak in his honor.

And if you missed it this morning, we also have a deeper story focused on the aftermath of the Bush Park shooting and what's changed in the past year as city and school officials have worked to address community violence.
