Opioid withdrawal treatment, special education funding
Good evening, Salem.
Another protest against President Donald Trump's administration and Elon Musk's efforts to dismantle federal government agencies will take place Tuesday at the fountain outside the Oregon Capitol.
The protest is organized by Salem 50501, a local group that's part of a decentralized national effort that has organized protests in state capitals since Trump was sworn in for this second term. The most recent protest in Salem on Feb. 17 drew over 1,000 people.
Tuesday's rally begins at noon and is scheduled until 4 p.m., with planned speakers including several state representatives.
"We regard each act of executive overreach by President Trump, Elon Musk and their administration as a call to action to defend the Constitution and our democracy," the Salem group said in a news release. "Our families and communities are under attack. We stand in support our neighbors no matter their identity, immigration status or affiliations. As the founders of our nation made clear, it is our duty to speak out when the Constitution is disregarded and corrupt actions disrupt our democracy."
