Good evening, Salem.

A woodcarving art show is coming to Center 50+ this weekend, along with the chance to safely try your hand at carving.

At the Capitol Woodcarvers Show on Saturday and Sunday, people can watch carving demonstrations and buy carved items like wooden ducks. The show is led by the Capitol Woodcarvers, a local club that often teaches carving programs at Center 50+.

This weekend’s sale will include demonstrations of caricature, spoon and power carving along with a soap carving activity for kids of all ages.

The free show and sale will take place at Center 50+, 2615 Portland Rd. N.E., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. More information is available on the club’s website.
