The Salem Housing Authority is opening a waitlist for one-bedroom apartments at Yaquina Hall, a former nurses’ dormitory at the Oregon State Hospital turned into 52 affordable apartments.
The apartments opened in May 2023 and are attached to Section 8 vouchers. Residents, who must make less than $32,000 a year for a one-person household, pay at most around 30% of their income toward rent.
The property offers optional services for things like employment, education and health care.
Applications open on Saturday, March 22, at 9 a.m. and close on Sunday, April 13, at 11:59 p.m.
