Good evening, Salem.

New city projections released Friday provided some good news - Salem won't need to cut quite as much from its budget this year.

A group of city councilors, budget committee members and business owners met several times over the fall to review Salem's budget and recommend tweaks in the assumption's that drive it.

The result is the city's budget deficit is around $14 million, not $18 million. We explain what that means in more detail below.
