Good evening, Salem.

Salem-Keizer School District leaders are hosting a first-ever "State of the District" event starting at 6 p.m. at North Salem High School.

It comes as the school district faces substantial uncertainty in both policy and funding amid a dramatic reshuffling of the federal government. We have more on that in our recap of last week's school board meeting below.

Tomorrow, we'll bring you a deeper report on the district event.

We're also keeping an eye on Chemeketa Community College, where board directors on Wednesday will decide whether to ask voters to renew a property tax measure to fund campus improvements. Supporters of a city of Salem tax levy are worried putting both measures before voters at the same time could doom them both.

Finally, our apologies for a typo in yesterday's email in the section about Gregg Peterson's Salem First Citizen award. The organization he runs is the Be-BLAC Foundation.

Here's some of today's news. Catch all of our reports anytime on our website.
