Starting in January, it will cost $10 a day to park at Silver Falls.
Oregon State Parks announced the fee is doubling to "keep pace with rising costs." Fees for state parks that charge for parking will increase from $5 to $10 on Jan. 2, 2025.
Long-term permits will remain $30 for 12 months and $50 for 24 months.
A $5 discount is available for the 12-month permit during December as part of the state Parks Department’s annual sale.
Of the 250 state parks, only 25 require a day-use parking permit, including Silver Falls, Willamette Mission, Champoeg and Detroit Lake.
The fee helps pay for operations and maintenance and hasn’t been raised in over 15 years. The increase is intended to “keep pace with rising costs,” the parks department said in a news release.
