President Donald Trump announced base 10% tariffs on imported goods Wednesday, with higher rates for some, including China and the European Union.

Trump said the tariffs are intended to restore domestic manufacturing, though analyses by banks and think tanks widely agree they will raise the price of many consumer goods, the Associated Press reported. The stock market tumbled following the announcement.
