School budget proposal adds behavior help amid declining enrollment

Big school districts including Portland and Beaverton are cutting back this year, but Salem-Keizer wants to get more people into local schools after a deep round of cuts last year.
Superintendent Andrea Castañeda released her budget proposal last night, which includes more special education, behavior support - and a new plumber. A district budget committee will spend the next few weeks discussing and modifying it before the school board votes on a final budget in June.
