Good morning, Salem.

If you’re a local baseball fan, Keizer’s independent baseball league has an opportunity that might be for you.

As the year’s baseball summer season nears, the league is looking for families in the area to host traveling players from May 7 to Aug. 31. Athletes are coming across the country to play in the league, aspiring to go on to baseball fame, Lisa Walker, the league’s co-founder said in a press release.

An information session on being a host family will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at the Volcano Stadium, 6700 Field Of Dreams Way Northeast Suite 101, Keizer.

Host families will receive a handful of perks, including two season tickets for each player hosted, a free parking pass, early entrance and a discount at the team store.

Those interested in being host families can email [email protected] or [email protected]
