Krishna Namburi will serve as Salem's interim city manager following a unanimous Salem City Council vote Monday evening.
Namburi is a longtime city employee who was one of two deputy city managers serving under Keith Stahley prior to his abrupt departure one month ago. She oversaw much of the city's more technical work, including information technology, risk services and human resources.
Councilor Vanessa Nordyke put forward the motion to appoint her, saying she was best positioned to guide Salem through a challenging period that includes adopting a budget to address a projected $14 million deficit and a property tax measure on the May ballot.
