May 20 is shaping up to be a busy election locally.
There are the property tax asks. The city is hoping voters will agree to pay more to fend off deep budget cuts, while Chemeketa Community College wants voters to renew existing taxes to pay for campus renovations that will allow career programs to expand.
West Salem residents, along with the rest of Polk County, will decide on a small tax increase to pay for maintenance of the county's aging fairgrounds.
Four seats on the Salem-Keizer School Board are also up for grabs - a majority of the board's seven voting members. Two sitting board members, Karina Guzmán Ortiz and Lisa Harnisch, are seeking election, while two other seats are wide open.
East Salem residents will also select a new city councilor. Four people have filed for the position, with one day left to go. We've got more on that in a story below.
