Good morning, Salem.

The Salem-Keizer School Board is getting two new members on Tuesday evening.

Jennifer Parker and Mel Fuller will be sworn in after winning election in May. Also taking the oath will be Karina Guzmán Ortiz, who was reelected for a second term, and Lisa Harnisch, who won a term following her appointment to the board last year.

The board's monthly meeting at 6 p.m. July 8 is an otherwise light agenda. Board members will elect their chair, and first and second vice chairs. They'll also hear updates from Superintendent Andrea Castañeda. We'll keep you posted on any developments - including what the federal government's withholding of some education money means for local schools.
