Work began yesterday on the Southeast Mission Street bridge over Pringle Creek, just outside Salem Hospital.
It's one of four city bridge strengthening projects planned for this year, largely paid for by the tax bond voters approved in 2022 to cover infrastructure improvements.
The roughly $500,000 project is expected to last through November. There are no traffic changes yet - work is starting under the bridge. In September, it will move to the bridge surface, and drivers will see lane closures or revisions.
