Good morning, Salem.

The Oregon Legislature next week will celebrate the life of Senate President Peter Courtney of Salem, who died last year at 81 after setting a state record for the longest tenure for a lawmaker.

Courtney's memorial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Oregon Senate chambers, with live broadcasting into the state House of Representatives. Seating in the Senate is reserved, while the House is open.

A reception will follow from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Salem YMCA, 685 Court St. N.E., which Courtney championed during his political career.

Inquiries regarding reserved seating in the Senate may be directed to Bonnie Allen, reading clerk in the Secretary of the Senate's Office, at [email protected].
