Good morning, Salem.

If you live in northeast Salem and have an interest in finance management, the city of Salem has a vacancy on its budget committee you could fill.

The budget committee, which includes appointed members and the Salem City Council, spends about six weeks reviewing the recommended budget for the next fiscal year. The budget committee will eventually make the difficult decisions on what city services to cut, and in some cases possibly eliminate, at four upcoming meetings scheduled in April and May.

A seat is open for a Salem resident in Ward 5, which includes the Highland, North Lancaster and Northgate neighborhoods.

Budget committee meetings will take place Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. starting April 16.

People interested in filling the spot on the committee need to submit an application online.
