City crews worked around the clock over the weekend to fix two broken sewer mains and restore service to West Salem.
On Sunday morning, city officials announced people could resume doing laundry and flushing toilets.
The malfunction meant for two days, West Salem wastewater was released into creeks, fields and ultimately the Willamette River. Signs remain posted around Glen Creek, River Bend Slough, and a portion of the northern undeveloped wooded area of Wallace Marine Park warning people to avoid the water.
