New medical waste facility approved, events this week
A section of Southeast McGilchrist Street will soon close to eastbound traffic for the rest of the year, as part of a large construction project to reduce flooding and improve the flow of traffic.
The work will close the eastbound side of the street between Southeast 22nd and 25th streets, starting April 14. The closure will start on Monday, April 14, and will reopen on Dec. 31.
Local access will be available to all residences and businesses in the area during construction, and signs will point to detours.
The work will expand McGilchrist to three lanes and include updates such as sidewalks, streetlights, a cycle track, a center turn lane, and turn lanes at the east and west ends of the project, among other new amenities. Read more here.
