Good morning, Salem.

Last year, the city's community belonging survey revealed that people in Salem face discrimination on a weekly basis for being homeless, having a disability, being LGBTQ+ and for their race. Nine in ten homeless respondents said they've experienced discrimination in the past year.

The survey has opened again for this year, conducted by students at Western Oregon University in partnership with the city's Human Rights Commission. The commission uses the results in its work toward improving people's sense of belonging in Salem.

The 2025 community belonging survey is open until May 15, and takes about 5-10 minutes to fill out. Respondents have the chance to win a $50 WinCo gift card.
