Levy appears to pass, progressives take majority lead on school board
Good morning, Salem.
It was a successful election night for Salem progressives.
Voters rallied behind the library, parks and Center 50+ by voting for a new property tax levy to fund them.
Progressives took the lead in three Salem-Keizer School board races. Initial results showed progressive candidates Lisa Harnisch, Karina Guzmán Ortiz and Mel Fuller leading in their races, with conservative candidate Jennifer Parker also ahead.
Polk County voters rejected a levy to upgrade the fairgrounds, while Chemeketa Community College's tax measure for career programs and renovations was very narrowly ahead following a late Tuesday night ballot count from Marion County.
