Local Covid cases are rising far faster than testing rates, with about 60% not traced back to a known source in the final week of October. A Salem Hospital infectious disease doctor said the hospital isn't seeking a spike in Covid patients and is prepared for flu season.

Salem man charged with murder for September shooting at Salem park
Andrew Ray Rosas, a McKay High School student, was shot and killed in a northeast Salem park in September and another woman injured. Jayson Lynn Elkins was charged with murder Wednesday in connection with the shootings.
