What to do in Salem from Feb. 20-26: Chemawa powwow, cheer championships

Drag time!
Thursday, Feb. 20: Drag “mother” Riri Calienté will host a show at Infinity Room with three other performers. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. The venue serves food and cocktails, and becomes a +21+ establishment after 10 p.m. Infinity Room is located at 210 Liberty St. S.E. and tickets are available online for $10 but can be purchased for $12 at the door.
Pints for Pups
*Thursday, Feb. 20: 4 All MuttKind, a local dog rescue, will bring dogs to Santiam Brewing Co. to raise funds for its work. There will also be a raffle and opportunities to donate dog food. The fundraiser will go from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Santiam Brewing is located at 2944 19th St. S.E.
Highland Peace Walk
*Saturday, Feb. 22: The Highland Neighborhood Association has organized a peace walk to “promote peace and raise awareness about community violence in Highland,” according to the organizers. They will meet at the Fred Meyer Garden Center at 2855 Broadway St. N.E. at 4:30 p.m.
Chemawa powwow
*Saturday, Feb. 22: Chemawa Indian School will host a powwow to celebrate its 145th birthday. There will be vendors and organizations tabling, including a bake sale fundraiser for grassroots organization Indigenous Now. Chemawa organizes yearly powwows and the last one was hosted by the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs. It will take place at the school, 3700 Chemawa Road. N.E., from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
High School honors concert
Saturday, Feb. 22: Salem-Keizer School District is hosting a city-wide high school honors concert at the South Salem High School auditorium, 1910 Church St. S.E. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will feature bands, choirs and orchestras from different high schools in Salem and Keizer. Advance tickets cost $5 for students and $8 for adults and seniors, but cost $10 at the door for adults.
Cheer championships
Feb. 22-23: The Oregon Cheerleaders Coaches Association will host a cheerleading competition in the Pavilion at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, 2330 17th St. N.E. Doors on Saturday open at 7 a.m. and performances start at 8 a.m. On Sunday, doors open at 8 a.m. and performances are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, military members, bus drivers and students.
Live comedy
- Thursday, Feb. 20: Comedians Drew Wilson-McGrath and Trenton Davis will perform at Northern Lights Theatre Pub, 3893 Commercial St. S.E. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. and the show starts at 8:15 p.m. Admission is +18 and tickets can be purchased online for $15.
- Friday, Feb. 21: James Hartenfeld, a Portland-based standup comedian and creator of the Ricky Winters Show, will perform at Infinity Room. All ages are welcome but organizers warn that not all content will be clean. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online for $15 and at the door for $20.
