The bulls took the spotlight Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Jaripeo Espectacular, a rodeo event that is part of the Oregon State Fair.
Unlike traditional American rodeo, bull riders have two fates – they get bucked off or they stay on until the bull comes to a stop. There is no eight-second time limit as in U.S. professional rodeo rules.
A string of cowboys tested themselves Sunday afternoon.
The crowd also was entertained by dancing horses, guided by riders in full cowboy regalia.
The event was part of the opening weekend of the state fair, which runs daily through Labor Day.
