Pedestrian dies after May 11 collision on Salem-Dallas Hwy on-ramp

A pedestrian died on Sunday two weeks after she was struck by a driver on the on-ramp entering a west Salem highway, according to the Salem Police Department.
Police identified the pedestrian as Patricia A. Estrada, 62, of west Salem.
On May 11, Estrada was on the shoulder of the Northwest Edgewater Street on-ramp to Salem-Dallas Highway. She moved into the path of a van as the driver “proceeded to access the highway,” Salem police said in a news release Wednesday.
Police and emergency crews responded around 1:25 a.m. that Saturday morning.
The van driver, Melodi L. Kraemer, 43, of Dallas, called police and stayed at the scene.
Estrada was taken to Salem Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She died 15 days later on May 26.
Police said that Estrada was the 14th person killed in a collision this year in Salem.
