Covid cases are rising in Marion and Polk counties and across the state, with the percentage of positive cases climbing daily.

Marion County saw its highest daily case count reported last week.

Food processing workplaces and long-term care facilities continue to be sources of cases locally.

Last week, Gov. Kate Brown tightened restrictions on the mask mandate, requiring them when standing in line outside and everywhere inside a public place.

This is happening while educators are planning how they’ll return to teaching in the fall.

Local businesses have been tasked with enforcing mask wearing. Large retailers like Walmart and Target now require face coverings.

Salem Reporter has access to experts at the local, state and national level.
