A police officer shot and killed a man inside the West Salem Goodwill, 585 Edgewater St NW, on Wednesday afternoon around 1:45 p.m.
The man was being investigated by the Polk County Inter Agency Narcotics Team, said Polk County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Dustin Newman. Officers from the team tried to arrest the man inside the store, and an officer shot the man during the attempt.
The narcotics team includes detectives from Polk County, Oregon State Police and the Dallas, Monmouth and Independence police departments.
Newman declined to say what agency the involved officer belonged to, what the man was being investigated for or what occurred during the attempted arrest leading up to the shooting.
No officers were harmed in the shooting.

Edgewater Street is blocked at the intersection of Wallace Road Northwest. Traffic was backed up off the West Salem bridge as the Wednesday evening commute began.
Buses for 25 Salem-Keizer schools are delayed at least 30 minutes as a result. The district posted a list on Twitter.
Because Oregon State Police are involved in the narcotics team, Salem police are investigating the shooting, spokesman Lt. Treven Upkes said. Officers are on scene and will release more details once they’ve completed an investigation, he said.
